Happy New Year!
I know that this post is short, but I just wanted to say something before the first day of 2012 is over. Last year (I remember it like it was yesterday), I didn't post very much. I had a total of 13 posts in over seven months. That's not good.
This year, I'm going to try and post more often. I'm not going to promise anything. I mean, I promised things all the time last year, and I never kept the promises. If I do promise something this year, I will try to keep my promise. I'm not going to promise anything right now, though. I'm just going to say that I will try to post more often. I'm going to try for what I originally wanted to do when I first created this blog, which is at least one post a week. Hopefully I can do that a little better now.
I know that this post is short, but I've made my point. This year, I'm going to try to be better about writing here. I'm going to try to write more often. If I don't write at least once a week, I'm sorry. I will try to post more often than once every few months, though.
Happy New Year!
I don't know if I've ever mentioned it before, but I love Harry Potter! I love all the books and all the movies, even when they totally mess up and leave things out.
Well, July 15 was the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Being the huge Harry Potter fan that I am, I went to the premiere with my mom and one of my best friends, Kristina.
It's already kind of crazy to go to the midnight premiere. I mean, we didn't get back until something like 3:30, and I didn't fall asleep until something like 5:00, and my mom had to come and wake me and Kristina up at something like 7:00. It was already crazy that we were even going, when you think about it. We didn't just go to the premiere, though. Kristina and I dressed up.
I can't remember all the details, since it was a while ago now, but I know that it was super fun. I dressed up as Ginny Weasley, and Kristina dressed up as Hermione Granger. I got to dye my hair red for the event, and Kristina got hers cut "Hermione length". We both got robes. She bought a plastic copy of Hermione's wand for the costume shop in town, and I order a wooden copy of Ginny's wand online. (By the way, it still hasn't come. It got lost in the mail. I'm pretty mad about that, considering it cost, like, $40. Still, I did have something to use, so I still had a wand.) I also wore my Quidditch goggles that I bought when I went to New York way back before I even had this blog. It was really fun.
We went there really early because we wanted to make sure that the line wasn't huge or anything like that. I can't remember exactly when we got there, but it was something like 10:00, maybe something like 9:30. Okay, I guess that's not that early, but considering the previews didn't start until 12:00, it was definitely on the earlier side.
We got our own little line because we had preordered 3-D tickets. At one point in time me and Kristina went and got some snacks from a vending machine next to the bathrooms. We came back, ate our snacks, and talked a little bit. One of my mom's besties came and sat with us while we were in line.
At around 10:30, they actually let our line go into the theater. We got awesome 3-D glasses (they were shaped just like Harry's glasses) and then we got our seats. My mom and her friend went down to sit in one row, and me and Kristina went and sat down in a different one. A person a few rows up from us was watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on their laptop, so me and Kristina watched some of it. We talked to people who were sitting around us right up until midnight. At one point Kristina went and got popcorn for us, but other than that, we stayed in our seats, waiting for the movie to start.
At 12:00, the previews started. The movie theater got really quiet. After a bunch of previews, the movie finally started. I'm not going to say anything about it in case you somehow never saw it, but let me just say it was awesome! There were some parts that I didn't like that much, but most of it was great. They did some parts perfectly, and others they screwed up a little bit. Overall, though, I loved the movie!
I wish the movies weren't all over. I'm going to miss midnight premieres and such. Still, Harry Potter will never die! The series will go on forever. I'll say it's over when the movie comes out on DVD. I'll say it's over when I get all the super mega ultra extended editions on Blu-Ray. It won't be over, though. Harry Potter will live on forever!
Hello!
Okay, first off, I am REALLY sorry that I haven't posted in forever. I mean, I'm really really sorry. With all the stuff that I did over the summer plus school starting and everything, I've been kind of busy and haven't gotten a chance to write.
Actually, just ignore that. Another huge part of why I haven't written something in such a long time is because I actually kind of forgot that I had this blog at all, and so I didn't write. I really am sorry about that.
Now, though, I'm going to try and make it up to you a little bit. Over the next week or so, I'm going to try and write about everything that I've done since my last post two months ago. Each little event will be a separate post, so you guys don't have to read one super long one and then not have anything else for a little bit. Later today I'll try to post something, and then I'll try to get a post up the next day and the next day and the next day. If I don't write one day, it's because I'm really busy.
In case you're wondering why I'm super busy, it's because I'm in the high school band this year! I'm going to talk more about band camp and how fun band is and everything in another post (probably up tomorrow or Monday if I can manage it). I love it. Band is great. We just practice twice a week, and I try to practice more than that so that I can know my part and not mess up at all, and so I have to spend a lot of time with just that. I'll try to write some more than I have, but I don't know how often I can because of band.
Anyway, sorry about not posting in such a long time. Hopefully this will make it up!
This is basically the rest of the story, continuing from the last choice. This is a slightly shortened version of what it would be if you got all of the story correctly. Sorry about not getting this up sooner!
You decide that you should stop and rest now. You sit down and eat a pack of peanut butter crackers while you rest. At about 10:15, you feel fine again. You pull out the night-vision goggles and the flashlight so you're a little better prepared, and then keep going.
You use the flashlight until 11:00, but then the batteries go dead. You quickly realize that you forgot batteries. You have the night-vision goggles, though, so you put them on and keep going. While it was a slight delay, it's 11:05 now, and you're over halfway there.
You have almost an hour left until the ghost is said to appear, so you take another quick break. You have a few sips of water and open a bag of chips and eat a few. After ten minutes, at 11:15, you get back up and continue walking, keeping the bag of chips out so that you can eat while you go.
At 11:30, you start to get worried. You're not too far from the tree now, but you're a lot more tired than you were when you started. You sit down and look at the sky, but you don't close your eyes for more than a few seconds at a time. At 11:40, you get up and start walking to the tree, going a little faster than you normally would.
At 11:58, just in time for the girl's ghost, you arrive at the tree. You drink more of your water until you've drank a little less than half of it. Just as you're putting your water bottle away, there's a faint shimmer next to you, and the ghost appears.
The ghost of the girl is carrying a little handbag, and you can also see the knife that's in her back. There's a moment of silence while she looks at you.
"Somebody read the stories," she says faintly. "Listen, can you please do just one thing for me? All I'm asking is that you do one easy thing. Please."
The girl is so nice to you that you can't refuse. "What is it?" you ask.
"I want you to find the man who killed me," she says. "It really should be quite easy. He hides in the old, unused building in town. He's hidden up there since he killed me, so long ago. When you find him, tell him that Elizabeth Nicole is watching him. He'll understand it. Hopefully I'll see him next month." She smiles to herself and then sighs. "Somehow, it's almost 12:30. I have to go now. Please, find the man who killed me. Even if you don't, thanks for hearing my story and doing all of this work to see me." She smiles, and then starts to fade away.
"Wait!" you yell, rushing to get out the camera. "Please let me take your picture!"
The ghost laughs. "It wouldn't show up, anyways," she says. Before you can say anything else, the ghost disappears.
You travel back to the town and find the man hiding in a closet in the old building. He's much older than he was when he stabbed the girl, and he doesn't try to hurt you. You give him the message, and he nods and says, "I knew she would." After that, you return the book to the old library, telling them that the story is real. Right before you go, you grab a new book, with a goal forming in your head to find out the truth about all of the stories.
Today was a supremely long day. I actually started the Couch to 5K program today. It's a running program where you start running for a little while and then walking for a while, and then back to running, back to walking, and on an on. This week it was one minute of walking and then a minute and a half of walking. Then it repeated so that I ran eight times overall. It seemed to take forever!
You might be wondering why that was pretty much all I did today. Well, I'll admit it, the rest of the day I was pretty lazy, and the post I was supposed to have today completely escaped my mind.
I woke up, did all my usual stuff, and then hung around the house because we didn't go to day camp. In my brain, that pretty much made me forget everything. I spent most of the day playing The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Then I went running. When I got back, I watched Doctor Who, and then we went to the park. When we came home from the park, I watched some more Doctor Who, got a shower, and then played more of Phantom Hourglass on my DS. Then I got in bed, realized I had completely forgotten my post, and now I'm writing this.
I'll probably have it up tomorrow, but it's also my mom's birthday tomorrow (Hi Mom!), so I might not get to it. I do promise that I will have it up before next Monday so that next Monday I can post a new one.
In the meantime, for the people who said that we should start walking now, here's what went wrong: You do make it to the tree with plenty of time to spare, but you're wiped out and end up falling asleep. That leads to you missing the ghost.
That's it for now. Check back soon for the rest of "The Girl's Ghost"!
At the end of the last section, the choices were walking to tree or resting.
Two people voted for walking, and one person voted for resting.
The correct answer was... resting!
Since we did have a vote for resting (Alise), on Monday I will post the rest of the story without the different options. "The Girl's Ghost" is basically over. This next Monday I will have the rest of the story, and then the Monday after that I will start a new one.
Also, if you didn't comment and instead messaged me on Facebook or something, I did not take your vote! I think I made it pretty clear that you comment to vote. Maybe next time I will allow it, but that depends on how many people try to vote that way. If it's just one, no. If it's up to five, yes. Basically, if you're going to vote that way, make sure you have a handful of friends do that, too.
Check in on Monday for the rest of the story! Until then, good-bye!
My family goes to McDonald's every Sunday after church for lunch. We don't go in and sit down, we just go to the drivethru.
Now, Weird Al has this awesome song called "Stuck in the Drivethru" about getting, well, stuck in the drivethru. It's really long, but it's hilarious and totally worth watching.
Now, I've only been actually stuck in the drivethru once. We were going to get lunch at McDonald's like we normally do. When we got to the order box thing, though, there was a sign that said "CASH ONLY" and we only had a few dollars, like in the song.
Unlike in the song, though, we just told them we were sorry and just had to deal with the long line. It mainly just stunk because the line went so slowly. Eventually, though, we got out, and then we went across the street to Wendy's.
